T.O. WebFest 2017 happened on May 25-27, at the CN Tower.
We kicked it off with a fireside chat with CraveTV, the new major SVOD player in Canada, and another edition of Webfest Connect industry meetings for creators.
Industry professionals and emerging creators alike enjoyed our producer’s bootcamp, developing their content’s distribution plan with Seed & Spark, and learned how to manage production accounting with Freshbooks.
We brought back the Screen+Shop format with a Comedy Writing Screening + Workshop with Paul Bellini (Kids in the Hall) and Josh Shultz (creator, My 90-Year Old Roommate).
Our Creator Spotlight featured the team behind LaRue Entertainment (The Amazing Gayl Pile, True Dating Stories, Filth City), as we followed their journey from start-up to award-winning production team, and hear from their distribution partners at NBC Universal’s Seeso, and CBC Digital Originals. We also met the creators behind the animated series White Ninja, who pivoted around their platform’s choices, to find a new direction.
We wrapped it up with an exciting Awards Show and partied at the Top of the CN Tower!
